The story behind the storyteller
Welcome to the world of David Wardle. Here, you'll discover the inspirations, passions, and philosophy that drive my creative process as an author. From childhood dreams to published novels, join me on this journey into the heart of storytelling. I'm delighted to share my writing world with you.

From imaginative boy to published author
My love affair with writing began in childhood, crafting short stories and fictional newspaper articles with boundless imagination. While professional life in local government brought more structured writing – committee reports and policy documents – the academic world later allowed me to author learning materials and provide constructive feedback. Now retired, I have dedicated myself fully to creative writing. The thrill of transforming a nascent idea into a vibrant scenario, bringing characters to life, is what truly fuels my passion.

Crafting authentic human narratives
I find immense fascination in people – observing how they act, talk, and behave in their everyday lives. This fascination is the cornerstone of my storytelling, allowing me to tell truly human stories. We all navigate a complex tapestry of emotions and challenges, and my aim is to capture these universal experiences. Whether my approach is unique is for my readers to decide, but as long as I find joy in this process, I will continue to write, hoping to connect with those who appreciate my work.

Empathy: the heart of every story
I am a firm believer in the profound importance of empathy. Through my stories, I aspire for readers to feel they can truly step into the shoes of my characters, experiencing their journeys and emotions as if their own. The relationship between a writer and their reader is invaluable; it's the vital connection that every author strives to achieve. This connection, this shared understanding, is at the core of everything I write.
